Update: Post-GenCon Wrap Up, Errata, and What's Next

Hello all!

We're back from GenCon! We want to give a heartfelt thanks to everyone that made it possible for us to have a very successful first Onyx/ShE Event.

First, the good folks at Pine Box Entertainment were critical to facilitating not just this, but all of the Old5R Events, so please take the time to check out all the other great stuff they do, many of which will strike a chord in the hearts of fans of AEG's old glory days.

Next, Mike Petke of PlayCCG, the charity event organizer for both last year and this one, who approached us about collaborating for an Onyx/ShE event in the first place. We were honored to help raise money alongside other Old5R events for the Red Panda Network. Mike was also responsible for providing the excellent Egg of P'an Ku promos handed out this year.

Next, the players who took time from their convention schedules to actually play in our events. You're the other essential element, not just to GenCon, but to this entire project, and your support means more to us than I can hope to ever properly express. Nevertheless, this is my attempt to do so.

Lastly, I want to give a personal shout out to our dedicated team members on site, Jeff Williamson and Brook Cunningham. While I wasn't (for various reasons) able to attend, I am certain my presence wasn't missed at all because things were in the capable hands of these two tireless and talented people.

On to GenCon itself, congrats to Greg Wong, who defeated Edward Kim in a 2-1 finals match with Dragon, putting the future of the Mantis Clan in Yoritomo Minoko’s hands. While Gusai Ichido and his followers garnered enough support at second place to survive on in some form, look for the fall of Yoritomo Seiki to play out in the future of the Shattered Empire Arc. While at GenCon, a potentially problematic interaction with that old friend Oblivious Scout was brought to our attention. While this didn't impact the actual event in any way, we want to make sure to issue an immediate fix to this problem. An updated image file is being released into the Public Folder, and this errata is effective immediately.

This is intended to prevent a situation where you could destroy your own Oblivious Scout and thus deny your opponent the opportunity to shut off its effects. We're currently planning a fairly comprehensive post-GenCon update of things we've been holding back for a while, but we felt it was necessary for this to go out as soon as possible. Look for the rest of these updates sometime later this month.

Gates of Tengoku testing is reaching a point of conclusion, and we are still on track for a mid-September release. We were lucky to connect with some more artists at GenCon and hope to be able to continue to make this set one of our best to date.

Thank you all again for your support, and we hope to see everyone next year as well.
